Colonel Padgett is the head guy for small arms at Picatinny, N.J.

His position has not changed at all, even though he has seen the same (if not more) evidence than you have from Iraq, Kuwait and elsewhere.

I guess when these people have a position (right or wrong) they will not change unless they are forced to.

I feel sick when I think of the lives that have been lost with their arrogant position. If they can't get something as simple as MILITEC-1 right, I wonder how they could ever get anything right.

There is nothing more important to a Soldier than the proper functioning of his/her weapon. The lubricant dictates how well those weapons will work.

I told Padgett that we have all federal law enforcement approvals and most weapons manufactures approvals and CLP only has your approval. He said nothing. This is so lopsided that he must be brain dead, or is hoping for a job when he retires at the expense of our fighting men and women.

I was sick to death after talking with him.

Subject: Padgett phone call

I spoke with Col. Padgett @ 2:00 PM today. The conversation lasted 15 minutes.

He said the lessons learned report dated may 15th by LTC Smith is not accurate and a new report is forthcoming. He also said, reports that he is receiving from the field shows CLP is working great. He further stated, that he can not get a single person (anywhere) to claim MILITEC-1 works. However, they want to hear from the units and see what they have to say. I thought General Kern's five day fact finding mission in Iraq did just that. This is an official report that took five days of interviews with the soldiers in Iraq to compile and they interviewed all units and all units said the same thing. How could Padgett discount a four star General's hands on report from our own soldiers in Iraq?

He also said, they purchased MILITEC-1 for testing and "the testing" will be in ALL environments, but would not tell me anymore when I pressed him for specifics, other than the May 15, 2003 Thompson letter that was filled with half truths, which is posted on our homepage.

He stands by the Gen. Thompson letter that his group drafted. He also said that they do not care about the history, however, when I cited the sentence in ( Thompson's) letter that states "point by point" only elevates emotions, he had nothing to say.

Bottom Line: His position has not changed at all, and he does not believe what we have to say and agrees with Thompson that MilSpec CLP is state of the art.

He also said the contacts Russ Logan provided were unsuccessful in being contacted and the 60 day window (for orders from DLA) has expired and it is going back to the way it was with MILITEC, i.e. our orders are still being blocked by DLA and no war orders will be filled.

Padgett is blaming the problems with the 507th on their magazines and still insists that it is not lubricant related.

Soldiers in Iraq or Kuwait that order MILITEC-1 from DLA are not being responded to or even notified that their orders were automatically cancelled. This is criminal!

I pray you can help us. We are suffering (not as much as the families of the injured and killed soldiers) as a result of Colonel Padgett and his group that are trying to put us out of business with DLA's help.

Thank you, again!
