Received from the Early Bird Edition El Paso Times September 17, 2003 507th Weapon Records Gone By Laura Cruz, El Paso Times The U.S. Army on Tuesday revealed that all records and documents about the weapons that jammed during the March 23 ambush that led to the death of nine Fort Bliss soldiers were destroyed in the Iraqi attack and that there is no way to trace the weapons' histories. The official 507th report, which was released by the Army on July 17, suggests that the "malfunctions may have resulted from inadequate individual maintenance in a desert environment." |

Received June 25 Subject: RE: Wrong Lubricant, Jammed Weapons, Dead Soldiers All, When reading all this great (mis)information coming back from Iraq, DO NOT believe what you read. I, Dave Skeldon and COL Padgett were at the 507th on the 19th. What happened to their weapons was not lubricant related. Respectfully, Gus Funcasta Tech Exec, Weapons Systems Team US Army ARDEC AMSTA-AR-CCL-A, Bldg. 65N Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806 Tel# 973-724-6084 FAX# 973-724-2719 DSN 880 funcasta@pica.army.mil augustine.funcasta@us.army.mil |
