When the City of Corona, CA ran their Diesel fleet through the state-mandated SAE J1667 Diesel Opacity (Smoke) Test, they had a problem. Eight of their vehicles failed. Repair estimates were between $12,000 - $14,000 (including down-time expense) to return the vehicles to service, but that amount would stretch their budget.

Corona's fleet service manager became an instant hero by trying a new approach. Instead of spending money to rebuild the engines and/or recalibrate the fuel injection systems, he simply added MILITEC-1 Metal Conditioner to the engine oil of the failed vehicles. With MILITEC-1 in the lubricating system, all eight vehicles passed a subsequent SAE J1667 test with absolutely no repairs, adjustments or down-time.
