"Give us your synthetic oil and we'll let you live..."

So spoke a well armed group of guerillas in the jungles of Colombia about MILITEC-1. It seems that the Government troops the rebels were fighting were getting maximum performance from their weapons with the product, so the revolutionaries wanted 15 cases to combat the jungle humidity, dirt, and malfunctions they cause. And they wanted them free. Or else.

From the Colombian Government, an old and extremely valued customer of Militec-1, came the admonition that it wouldn't look kindly on enemies using the same gun conditioner as their troops. The cases of the product that had been demanded went into hiding, and Militec's Colombia distributor is not to be found. At last report, however, he is still alive.

So what is Militec-1? It's a metal conditioner that reduces friction and contributes significantly to the proper function of a firearm while making it easier to clean. It was developed by Militec, Inc.'s company president after he'd spent years selling petroleum-derived lubricants to lumber mill operators.

Having seen firsthand the failures of the products he was pitching, he decided to develop his own based on synthetic oils. Exactly what Militec-1 consists of, how and where it is made, are tightly held secrets, but its performance in firearms has accumulated an impressive list of highly favorable, official comments.

Here's how it works. After a few rounds have been fired through a gun treated with Militec-1, the product bonds with the weapon's metal surfaces. Parts maintain free movement. Overall performance is enhanced without leaving an oily residue. The benefits translate into fewer jams, higher muzzle velocities, less wear, less corrosion, and a 50 percent reduction in cleaning time.

Unlike traditional lubricants which temporarily coat metals, but over time leave a weapon unprotected while attracting and retaining foreign matter that increases heat and friction, Militec-1 continues to lubricate since the structure of the metal remains constantly lubricated. The products is presently being used by over 100 military organizations, the Secret

Service, FBI, DEA, IRS, and a growing number of other federal, state and local law-enforcement agencies. In addition, it is being recommended by firearms manufacturers to students attending their Armorer's Schools.

In use, the product is applied to all inner and outer surfaces of the firearm including the bore. After firing enough rounds to warm the gun, Militec-1 can be wiped dry without losing the product's lubricating effect. Only five or six drops are required to treat a small-caliber weapon and, if used exclusively, that weapon will remain lubricated under all environmental conditions. For long-term storage--two years or longer--leaving a film of Militec-1 on metal surfaces can prevent corrosion.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price for 4 ounces is $14.95; one ounce is $4.95. a screw-on cap for the plastic squeeze bottles with a three inch, stainless-steel application needle is $10.00. The one-ounce size would serve the needs of most gunsmith shops nicely, since such a small amount of the product is required for treatment.
