RACING WITH MILITEC-1

We learned of MILITEC-1 while speaking with a colleague of ours from Huntsville, Alabama.

We race stock cars in the Southeast and are always looking for more speed, less drag and certainly better reliability. We contacted the Militec Company and purchased our first case of MILITEC-1, after which we went to the chassis dyno with our racecar.

The car we race is a 1981 Camaro stock car. It races on a 3/8-mile asphalt track here in Northern Virginia. The car is a low compression, Chevy 350 with a two-barrel carburetor.

Once at the dyno, we had a fresh oil change with our usual oil and we established a baseline with 5 pulls. During these baseline runs we discovered a problem with the carburetor running too rich. We fixed it and established a baseline of 236 horsepower to the rear wheels.

We added 8 ounces of Militec-1 to the crankcase, 2 ounces in the rear, 2 ounces in the power steering pump, and 4 more in the transmission. We made five more pulls knowing that the MILITEC-1 had to have time under proper heat conditions to effectively bond. During the following five pulls we gained 2 horsepower each pull.

Our colleague in Huntsville who works at NASA noticed that we were running a low compression engine but had to run 110-octane fuel. He suggested that we mix 1 ounce of Militec-1 with each gallon of fuel. His theory was that the Militec-1 would knock down some of the octane without violating the rules and lubricate the valve guides as well as the top rings in the engine.

We set up for our first pull with the Militec-l in the gas. When we started the engine and let it get up to temperature, we noticed an immediate increase in idle rpm; 300 rpm higher. We re-adjusted the idle and made our pull. The fuel/air ratio was lean now and we still gained an additional 2 horsepower. We re-jetted with larger jets and made 4 subsequent pulls gaining horsepower each time.

After 19 total pulls we had a net gain of 25 horsepower to the rear wheels due entirely to the use of MILITEC-1. We have MILITEC-l now in our racecars, company equipment and personal vehicle. I am amazed.
